(Oregon Right to Life) — An immersive new educational video from the national pro-life organization Live Action provides an intimate look at the development of human life, from a tiny single-cell organism to a fully developed baby about to be born. The video is designed to show the humanity of the unborn, pushing back against pro-abortion claims that the unborn are simply “clumps of cells” that aren’t worthy of legal protection.

Called “Meet Baby Oliver,” the heavily researched and visually rich video was released Tuesday. In a press release, Live Action described the new project as “captur[ing] the awe-inspiring beauty and humanity of a preborn child” and “inviting viewers to witness life’s earliest moments.” “Baby Oliver” was reviewed for accuracy by Katrina Furth, Ph.D., and Dr. Kathi A. Aultman, MD.
“When people see the beauty of life in the womb, the humanity of the growing child, and the life that exists from the moment of fertilization, they understand that all human life has immeasurable value,” Live Action founder and president Lila Rose said. “Baby Oliver reveals the truth: every baby is a unique miracle, worthy of protection.”
The new video follows a widely-viewed production by Live Action called “Baby Olivia,” which has subsequently inspired legislation in six states requiring school curricula teaching prenatal development.
In an article, Live Action noted that the sequel, “Baby Oliver,” “reveals earlier stages of human development with further scientific clarity and breathtaking detail.”

Noting that the video is “[b]oth medically and scientifically accurate,” OBGYN Dr. William Lile said the “Baby Oliver” video is a “powerful example” of the way that, “[j]ust as telescopes and microscopes have revealed realities once hidden from us, modern imaging technologies now allow us to see and comprehend what was previously invisible.”
“These technologies are not merely educational, but they are also transformative,” Dr. Lile said. “Baby Oliver illustrates the extraordinary sequence of events that occur from conception and during early human development.”
The video, which uses computer-generated imagery to depict the development of human life from fertilization, also features documentary-style narration that guides the viewer through the visual experience.
“Before a new human being comes into existence, there is just one egg from the mother, and there are tens of millions of sperm cells from the father – although only one will bond with the egg. This moment is called conception, or fertilization,” the narrator says.
“Each parent provides chromosomes: 23 from the father, and 23 from the mother. These chromosomes contain DNA, the coding that determines male or female, the color of the eyes, the texture of the hair, and countless other traits,” the spoken explanation continues.
The narrator then introduces the viewer to the protagonist of the video as the tiny human life develops:”
“This is a boy named Oliver.”
