Senate Confirms Amy Coney Barrett to the SCOTUS

Today the United States Senate voted 52-48 to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

“As a Supreme Court justice, Amy Coney Barrett will be an incredible asset to our nation,” says Lois Anderson, ORTL executive director. “Throughout the confirmation process, she proved again and again that she is qualified, intelligent, and committed to the Constitution and her judicial responsibilities.”

The pro-life majority in the United States Senate and President Trump have worked together to appoint and confirm three excellent associate justices to the Supreme Court. In addition, their work has resulted in 220 appointments to the federal circuit courts. Per Senator Mitch McConnell, this is the first time in 40 years that there are no vacancies in the circuit courts.

“This is a significant accomplishment and fulfills a promise that President Trump made to voters,” continues Lois Anderson. “Today’s vote was an act of courage that is to be commended and that will have a lasting impact.”
