“You’re Welcome” and “Thank You”

Often, supporters will tell me thank you and I always want to respond by saying, “No! Thank YOU!” I feel so much gratitude for each person who takes action after they read an email, share information with their church, give a donation, or spend precious time organizing pro-life activities. There are thousands of you covering the state of Oregon. I sincerely want to say thank you.

When I am sitting at my desk, I have a picture in my mind of the map of Oregon, with tiny blinking lights all over the state, from Coos Bay to La Grande and Lakeview to Happy Valley. Each of those lights is a pro-life person! We are all working together in our common goal to restore legal protection to all who are endangered by abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia.

In 1969, four families decided an effort needed to be organized to overturn the Oregon bill passed that year which legalized and regulated abortion. They did not imagine that, in 2020, we would have a full-time professional staff of talented, dedicated pro-life advocates. They also did not imagine that, 50 years later, we would still be working to restore legal protections for unborn babies.

Thanks to you, we are still working. Thanks to you, we are equipped to succeed. As we look toward the possibility of a major decision by the Supreme Court this year in Gee v. June Medical Services, LLC, along with the ever-declining abortion rate, a presidential election, and U.S. Senate races, the idea of a post-Roe era is beginning to feel possible. It’s amazing!

No matter what, there will be work to do, help to give, and human rights to defend. It’s 2020, a new year, a new decade. Let’s join hands, press in, work hard, and keep going!

I hope to see you February 29th at Together We Advocate 2020. It is a day for learning, encouragement and networking. See page 8 to register!
