(Oregon Right to Life) — Pro-life advocates in our post-Dobbs environment have likely been made aware – whether through news commentators, social media, or pro-choice friends and family members – of a series of shocking articles published by the nonprofit journalistic outfit ProPublica concerning the reportedly deadly effects of pro-life laws for women.
Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade, ProPublica released this series of lengthy pieces suggesting that recent state laws limiting or banning abortions are responsible for the deaths of women who have been turned away or otherwise denied life-saving care.
But do these articles tell the whole story? Are pro-life laws really at fault? Are the reports about denial of care, sepsis, or unnecessary delays truly a result of laws protecting the unborn, or might they be instances of malpractice or lack of medical education that could have occurred in any state, including a state where abortion is legal?
These are questions that Secular Pro-Life Executive Director Monica Snyder (who was one of our keynote speakers at Together We Advocate last year) tackles in a series of well-researched articles and videos.
Monica’s responses address the claims and implications of ProPublica’s pieces, giving pro-life advocates rock-solid facts and information to refute misguided pro-abortion accusations.
Check out the quick but thorough videos below, each responding to the situations of the women named in ProPublica’s reports.
