Assisted Suicide Is Not Compassionate
Medically vulnerable people are at risk in Oregon. Thousands have died from assisted suicide after being prescribed lethal pills in Oregon since our state legalized the practice in the 1990s.
- The Oregon “Death With Dignity Act” data summary from 2024 reported an 8% increase in physician-assisted suicide prescriptions from 2023 – which was already up 30% from 2022 (click to read more).
- Radical lawmakers are trying to expand the law even further.
- Last year, one in every one hundred Oregon deaths was from assisted suicide.
At the same time that our culture – and even government – provides resources to help save people who are considering suicide, Oregon openly offers legal assisted suicide as an option for people facing a terminal illness or even a condition like anorexia, arthritis, or diabetes.
This sends a brutal message that some lives are more worth living than others, and it must stop.
