lawmakers voted to establish

Oregon Adoption Day on August 25!

Great news from the Oregon legislature!

The Oregon legislature unanimously approved a bill to establish August 25 as “Oregon Adoption Day.”

The bill was introduced by pro-life Republican Representative Lucetta Elmer, who chose that day because that’s when she herself had been adopted.

“Adoption is an act of courage,” Rep. Elmer said on the House floor. “It requires sacrifice, selflessness, and a whole lot of faith from all sides. It weaves together lives in ways that reflect the best of our humanity, and it is worthy of recognition.”

For Elmer, the establishment of “Oregon Adoption Day” shines “a light on the beauty of adoption” and lets “every adopted child in Oregon” know: “You are seen. You are loved. And you matter.”
