Early Thursday morning, the Republican-led US House of Representatives narrowly passed a reconciliation bill that would remove support for the abortion industry – including Planned Parenthood.
The bill passed 215 – 214 and is headed to the Senate.

According to a recent Knights of Columbus-Marist poll, 57% of respondents disagreed with using taxpayer dollars to fund abortions. 73% of respondents disagreed with taxpayer funding for groups to perform abortions overseas.
Pro-life groups across the nation responded to the victory.
Oregon Right to Life’s executive director, Lois Anderson, expressed appreciation for the news. “We are deeply grateful for the leadership of Congressional Republicans, especially our own Representative Cliff Bentz. It’s long past time to end the flow of our Federal tax dollars to Planned Parenthood – the nation’s largest abortion provider.”
Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life, celebrated the news in a statement. “We praise Speaker Mike Johnson, House leadership, and congressional members who put American taxpayers first by passing the ‘One, Big Beautiful Bill.’ This bill would put the brakes on federal funding of the abortion industry.”
“It is time our tax dollars stop helping the abortion industry hurt women and take the lives of their innocent preborn children,” Tobias added.

Kristan Hawkins, President of Students for Life, stated in a post on X, “The House has just voted to defund Planned Parenthood and big abortion! Senate, do your job!”
Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action, also celebrated the news on X, urging the Senate to pass the bill. “The House just passed the reconciliation bill that includes DEFUND of Planned Parenthood. This would strip those who commit abortions of all federal funds.”
In a statement to the Daily Wire, Lila Rose said, “No organization that profits from the destruction and mutilation of children should receive a single cent of taxpayer money.”
“I urge Congress to keep the defunding provision in the reconciliation bill and pass the bill,” Rose continued. “Anything less is complicity.”
