Salem, Ore.— Today, Oregon Right to Life PAC announced the endorsement of Representative Greg Smith (R-Heppner) for House District 57, representing Eastern Oregon from Maupin to Umatilla and beyond.
Smith is the longest-serving member in the Oregon House of Representatives. During his time in office, Representative Greg Smith has partnered with Oregon Right to Life to sponsor the Born Alive Infants Protection Act and the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, legislation that provides a contrast to the state’s current law.
ORTL executive director Lois Anderson said, “Representative Greg Smith has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to protecting life at every stage. His leadership and experience make him an invaluable advocate for Oregon families, and we are proud to endorse him for reelection.”
ORTL political director, Sharolyn Smith, added, “When given the opportunity, no matter the setting, Representative Greg Smith is using his platform to stand for life.”

Representative Smith released a statement reflecting honor in receiving his endorsement, “Defending the most vulnerable and supporting Oregon families has always been at the heart of my service. I look forward to this mission with integrity and dedication.”
In Oregon, elective abortion is legal until the moment of birth. Late-term abortions have rapidly increased. Last year, 284 abortions were performed at or after 23 weeks gestation, more than triple the number in 2022. At this age, an unborn child can feel pain and survive outside of the womb. Recent data shows that 80% of abortions in Oregon are funded by taxpayers, even though the majority of Americans across the political aisle do not support using tax dollars to fund abortion, according to recent polling.
