Salem, Ore.— Today, Oregon Right to Life PAC announced the endorsement of Representative Dwayne Yunker (R-Grants Pass) for House District 3, representing the majority of Josephine County, including Cave Junction and Grants Pass.

Yunker was originally appointed to the Oregon House of Representatives to replace Representative Lily Morgan. During his time in office, Representative Yunker has partnered with Oregon Right to Life to sponsor the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and legislation to solidify conscience protections for medical providers. He has also used his platform to share his own personal story in the Oregon House chambers, supporting the establishment of  “Oregon Adoption Day” and speaking out against the Governor’s “Abortion Provider Appreciation Day.”

ORTL executive director Lois Anderson said, “Representative Dwayne Yunker is a reliable partner and outspoken advocate for the unborn. The passion he brings to defending the most vulnerable Oregonians against the extreme lack of protection in Oregon law underscores the seriousness of the challenge.”

In Oregon, elective abortion is legal until the moment of birth. Late-term abortions have rapidly increased. Last year, 284 abortions were performed at or after 23 weeks gestation, more than triple the number in 2022. At this age, an unborn child can feel pain and survive outside of the womb. Recent data shows that 80% of abortions in Oregon are funded by taxpayers, even though the majority of Americans across the political aisle do not support using tax dollars to fund abortion, according to recent polling.
