Oregon March for Life Makes Calendar Move

Oregon Right to Life

On May 22, 1969, SB 193 passed making Oregon one of the first states to legalize abortion in the nation.

In May of 1973, a “Celebrate Life” parade wound through downtown Portland. Soon after this inaugural event, the organizational responsibilities fell to Oregon Right to Life. And since that time, nearly every year, pro-life Oregonians have gathered to demonstrate on behalf of the unborn.

In 2024, the Oregon March for Life is making a move. Pro-lifers will gather at the Capitol building in Salem on Saturday, May 18, 2024 to remember the lives lost in Oregon to abortion and refocus how we, as pro-life advocates, can continue to make change to the culture and laws in Oregon.

The time, place and other elements of the event have changed over the decades. What hasn’t changed is the care taken in planning the location, speakers and even walk routes to maximize the significance and visibility to our communities.

Roe v. Wade is overturned, but the need for an annual demonstration for life remains. It is time again to orient our event toward making the most impact. Make plans now to join in!
