ORTL Delivers Late-Term Abortion Report to Lawmakers

Sharolyn Smith

Oregon has no restrictions whatsoever on abortion (or even the abortion industry). Oregon does, however, keep fairly good records on abortion in Oregon. We took the annual statistics and made a comprehensive report about late-term abortion in Oregon.

One staff member said that the report was the most visually-compelling and appealing piece of material they had been handed in ‘a very long time.’

In January, our deputy director Liberty traveled east to represent Oregon at the March for Life and speak at the National Pro-Life Summit. While there, she printed over 60 copies of the report. In three hours, she hand-delivered the report to every member of the pro-life caucus in the United States Senate.

As the senators were all in the ongoing impeachment hearings, she couldn’t meet with them directly. However, the impact of correctly-informed legislative staff cannot be underestimated. (One staff member said that the report was the most visually-compelling and appealing piece of material they had been handed in “a very long time.”)

Liberty also stopped by the offices of Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden. “I know we disagree on this issue,” she told them. “But as a constituent, it’s very important to me that you have this information.”

“[We] hand-delivered the report to every member of the pro-life caucus in the United States Senate.”
