Study Confirms Chemical Abortion Reversal Safe, Effective

Many women who have chosen abortion immediately regret their decision. Until recently, women who began taking the chemical abortion pill, RU 486, had no way of stopping the process. A new medical breakthrough known as abortion pill reversal (APR) gives hope to women who change their minds and decide to save their babies.

Dr. George Delgado, medical director of the non-profit Culture of Life Family Services, just released a peer-reviewed study proving that women now have a safe, effective method of reversing chemical abortion. Since the FDA approved RU 486 in 2000, Dr. Delgado and others have worked tirelessly to discover a method to reverse chemical abortion and have found that the effects of mifepristone can be reversed by administering progesterone.

RU 486 is a two-drug chemical abortion procedure. Mifepristone blocks progesterone, a hormone needed to help an unborn baby grow. Misoprostol, the second drug, causes the uterus to contract and expel the dead baby. APR treatment is for women who have taken the first drug (mifepristone).

Delgado’s study, featured in the medical journal Issues in Law and Medicine (Spring 2018), found that in 547 cases when patients took progesterone after taking mifepristone but prior to taking misoprostol, 261 patients had successful mifepristone reversals. Other tests have shown patients taking a high dose oral form of progesterone had a reversal rate of 68 percent; those taking injected progesterone saw a reversal rate of 64 percent.

The study found no increased risks of pre-term birth or birth defects. Dr. Delgado concludes, “The reversal of the effects of mifepristone using progesterone is safe and effective.” Not surprisingly, abortion advocates try to disparage and dissuade women from this life-saving option, calling it a scam to advance the pro-life agenda. Many women have testified that Planned Parenthood told them the reversal would cause deformities and complications.

Over 350 physicians in the U.S. and internationally have joined the APR network in the past five years. 1. No one takes the arguments about health concerns seriously. This is about moral opposition to abortion. It’s a good article and many points are disclosed in a very beautiful manner. I personally don’t support abortion but it gets necessary sometimes. Thanks for sharing!
